In 2014, China had the highest number of first university engineering degrees awarded with over 1.13 million (NSB, 2018). These engineering degrees represented about 33% of the total first university (bachelor’s or equivalent) degrees awarded in China. In the Chinese Statistical Yearbook (2015) published by the National Bureau of Statistics of China, women were well-represented (51.6%) among students that were enrolled in undergraduate and junior colleges in 2014. Moreover, women comprised about 52% of these graduates in 2014.
